Welcome Message to the 58th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (JSPCCS) Participants

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the JSPCCS 2022 – 58th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to be held in Sapporo, Japan between July 21-23, 2022. Sapporo is the biggest city of Hokkaido, the most northerly province in Japan, and its climate in summer is wonderfully comfortable and cool.
JSPCCS has a long history of ~ 60 years. The first general meeting was held in 1965. In the same year, Prof. Helen Tausig who invented the anastomosis of the subclavian and pulmonary arteries, so-called Blalock-Tausig shunt, served as a chairperson of American Heart Association (AHA).

JSPCCS is composed of intensivists, pathologists, and a variety of co-medicals as well as pediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. JSPCCS deal with various kinds of congenital, acquired heart diseases and arrhythmia from fetus, neonates, infants, and children to adolescents and adults throughout lifecycle. Therefore, JSPCCS has been keeping close relations with such affiliated associations as the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS) and the Japanese Collage of Cardiology (JCC) in Japan, and AHA, the Association of European Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC), Taiwan Society of Pediatric Cardiology (TSPC) in the world. The Three-Country Forum was also conducted online with China and Korea last year in Nara, Japan.

The main theme of the 58th Annual Meeting of JSPCCS is “Let’s give our whole mind and save children’s lives - Let’s discuss and co-operate for children’s heart “. After two years of hybrid meeting with online because of the pandemic COVID-19, we would like to see each other in Sapporo and thoroughly discuss about the scientific advances in our specialty, children’s heart, and mind.
